| La guitarra blanca, Pseudobatos productus, es una especie de raya bentónica cuya distribución geográfica se restringe en su mayoría a la región noroccidental de México. Es la especie de raya más importante en la pesquería artesanal de elasmobranuios de la región, presenta un alto grado de diferenciación genética a lo largo de su distribución y por tanto diferencias intraespecíficas importantes en su biología. En este trabajo se describieron aspectos reproductivos y del crecimiento de la guitarra blanca así como su demografía en Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno que es una de las tres zonas a nivel nacional en donde se pesca esta especie de manera importante. El ciclo reproductivo de la guitarra blanca en esta bahía es anual. La ovulación y fertilización ocurren durante verano y después del cual continúa un periodo de diapausa embrionaria de ocho meses que toma lugar desde septiembre hasta abril del año siguiente, momento en el que se interrumpe la diapausa y comienza un periodo de desarrollo embrionario de cuatro meses desde mayo hasta agosto, momento en el que ocurre el nacimiento. La longitud de nacimiento estimada fue 20 cm. Longitud de madurez sexual para machos y hembras fue 90 y 92 cm, respectivamente. Existe una relación lineal entre la fecundidad y el tamaño maternal. La longitud media de preñez estimada fue 103.8 cm. La guitarra blanca tiene mayor fecundidad (11 ± 3 crías) a lo largo de la costa oeste de la península de Baja California con respecto al golfo de California y también tiene la mayor fecundidad entre las especies de su género. Particularmente en Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno, la veda de pesca parece tener una duración insuficiente para proteger una porción de las hembras reproductoras que permanecen en las áreas de la laguna una vez que se levanta la veda. Los valores de los parámetros de crecimiento estimados fueron L∞= 156.45 cm, k= 0.10 cm año-1 y t0= -2.68 años para las hembras y L∞= 111.96 cm, k= 0.17 cm año-1 y t0= -2.17 años para los machos. La demografía de la guitarra blanca fue representada por parámetros de vida obtenidos a partir de datos reproductivos y de edad y crecimiento generados en el mismo periodo de tiempo el cual también corresponde al periodo en el que se estimó la mortalidad total utilizada en el análisis demográfico. Se estimó una edad máxima de 26 años y se consideró una edad de madurez sexual de 6 años. The shovelnose guitarfish, Pseudobatos productus, is a benthics ray species with geographical distribution mostly restricted to the northwestern region of Mexico. It is the most important ray species in the artisanal fishery of elasmobranchs in the region. It presents a high degree of genetic differentiation throughout its distribution and important intraspecific differences in its biology. In this work, were described reproductive and ange and growth aspects of the species as well as its demography in Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno, which is one of the three areas nationwide where it is fished in an important way. The reproductive cycle of the shovelnose guitarfish in this bay is annual. Ovulation and fertilization occur during summer and after which an eight-month embryonic diapause period continues, taking place from September to April of the following year, when the diapause is interrupted. Then, a four-month embryonic development period begins in May and until August, when the birth occurs. The estimated birth length was 20 cm. Length of median maturity for males and females was 90 and 92 cm, respectively. There is a linear relationship between fertility and maternal size. The estimated median length of pregnancy was 103.8 cm. The white guitar has the highest fecundity (11 ± 3 offspring) along the west coast of the Baja California peninsula with respect to the Gulf of California and also has the highest fecundity among the species of its genus. Particularly in Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno, the fishing ban appears to be of insufficient duration to protect a portion of the breeding females that remain in the lagoon areas once the ban is lifted. The values of the estimated parameters were L∞ = 156.45 cm, k = 0.10 cm year-1 and t0 = -2.68 years for females and L∞ = 111.96 cm, k = 0.17 cm year-1 and t0 = -2.17 years for males. The demography of the shovelnose guitarfish was represented by parameters obtained from reproductive and growth data generated in the same period of time, which also corresponds to the period in which the total mortality used in the demographic analysis was estimated. A maximum age of 26 years was estimated and an age of sexual maturity of 6 years was considered. It was found that the population of P. productus in Bahía Sebastián Vizcaíno is increasing (λ = 1.3), with a generation time of 10.46 years and a reproductive rate of 6,106 per generation.
